Jessie & Lucy will take you back down memory lane to the late 60’s when times were beginning to get better for African Americans. Jessie, a shoe shine man in downtown Atlanta makes enough money to pay rent in their modest one bedroom home that his wife Lucy keeps clean.
Cleaning comes easy to Lucy since she has made her living cleaning the houses and clothes of the local doctors and lawyers in uptown Atlanta.
Jessie and Lucy have the type of relationship that both are unhappy unless they are arguing about something. The latest thing to upset both of them is the fact that Lucy wants Jessie to give her a wedding ring for their 40th wedding anniversary. The only problem is, Jessie does not want to spend more than $50 for it coupled with the fact he’s trying to keep Lucy from figuring out where he hides his money he’s been saving for years.

Renee, a strong woman as wife, mother and daughter is the caregiver to her dying mother, Ms. Kizzy, as well as taking care of her own family. Her daughter, Brenda especially cherishes her grandfather, June. However, turmoil begins when Ms. Kizzy dies. Renee must help her daughter cope with the loss and then redirect her attention to her beloved father, when it is realized that he is in the early stages of Alzheimer’s. The mentally fading effects of this disease on her father makes Renee commit all her attention to his care at the cost of her marriage.
“Forget Me Not” is a touching drama by award winning playwright Garrett Davis that will take you on an emotional roller coaster with plenty of laughs and tears but will also touch the hearts of those who have a loved one who mentally suffers with this illness.
It is through the tears and trials of the caregiver that their dignity is preserved.
